Thank You ! Smith Family
A very special Thank You to the Smith family from Raleigh N.C. for coming to visit the Virginia Creeper Trail, Pictured below is Anne Hassinger Smith and family, Anne's Grand Father Luther Hassinger of Hassinger's lumber company is responsible for extending the railroad from Damascus to Konnarock, and eventually Elkland NC.
The Hassinger Lumber Company along with their massive work force of timber cutters stayed in this area from around the turn of the century until 1929.
Anne was nice enough to bring along a couple of restored family photographs to share with me, she is pictured below holding one of those photos taken in Konnarock in 1925,
Meeting this family was a true pleasure.
